Dooney and Bourke is Becoming My Favorite Again

Alto Canvas Wide Tassel Bag Amazon Medium Double Gussett Satchel Alto Magnetic Crossbody Florentine Drawstring Florentine Mini Satchel Mauro Governa Crocodile Double Shopper As I mentioned earlier, I am a total handbag and shoe fanatic.  I loved handbags every since  I received my first Coach bag at the age of 12. As the years went by, I went from being a Coach fanatic to a Dooney and Bourke fanatic, back to a Coach fanatic, and then I ventured into highend designer bags.  I have a personal SA at Louis Vuitton, a SA for Celine Luggage Bags at Barneys and the list goes on.  One thing I could never bring myself to buy was a Birkin Bag.  However, I did purchase a Hermes Evelyn last year and had buyer's remorse so I returned it.  I don't know why because I bought about 11 bags last year ranging from Bottega Veneta, Celine, Gucci, and Louis Vuitton.  I could of owned about five Birkins by now.  I figured Birkins weren't quite my style along with

Overcoming Fears

Good Evening All, When I set out on this journey of blog writing, one of the things was to get over my fears.  The Creator didn't give us a spirit of fear.  Fear can hinder you from realizing your destiny or things that the Creator wants you to accomplish for His purpose.  One of my fears was driving.  I hate to drive; however, I will drive around my surrounding area within a 20 mile radius.  That radius doesn't include tollways or expressways.  Well today, I had to go on a job interview and it was 24 miles from my home.  I had turned down job prospects because of my fear of driving and only prospecting jobs that were near the house or near a train line.  The job interview is along a major tollroad and expressway not far from my home.  What I did the night before was print out directions for the use of side streets and expressways.  You know I couldn't sleep last night because I was about to face one of my fears. The next morning I watched the news for any traffic delay

American Made Merchandise

Good Afternoon All, I have been hearing in the news lately about jobs coming back to the United States.  Customer service jobs that were sent to places like India are making their way back to the United States.  Also, a company in Chicago has been making the Oscar statues since 1983.  I must admit about 10 years ago, I would turn my nose up on anything made in China and only bought things such as clothing, shoes, and handbags only from European countries, Africa, and Japan.  When I purchased cars, I only purchased Japanese made cars such as Toyota.  I was bred to turn my nose up on American made cars because the innovation wasn't there.  Well nowadays I have lost a bit of my snobbery and look for things that are well made no matter what country they came from.  I have stepped outside of the proverbial myth that Japanese cars are all well made and purchased a BMW sedan and BMW Mini Clubman last year which are German and British made consecutively made cars.  I also love Dooney an

Diminishing Self Worth

Good Afternoon All, I hope all is well.  I have been trying to find some inspiration to enlighten my fingers to do the typing on my blog.  The past couple of days have been rough because of the job search.  I am trying to stay positive and rely on the Creator to guide me in searching for the perfect opportunity.  I can actually put myself in the shoes of people that have a sense of diminishing worth because of a loss.  A loss can be a job, a marriage, health, or a love one.  When feeling limitations in my self worth, I ask myself, how do you define yourself.  Do I define myself by my job, my marriage, what family I belong to; what affiliations I have; what neighborhood I live in; or whatever you identify with.  I identified myself with work.  I have always been fixated on finding a job, getting the right job, and how much the job pays.  I often sacrificed my happiness for jobs where I was stressed and didn't really like. Over the past year, I have been really doing some soul sea

Black History Month

Greetings to All, February is the designated month for African American History.   I almost forgot to pay homage to Black History Month because there has been so much in the news about deaths especially in the African American community.   We have lost Etta James, Don Cornelius (Peace, Love, and Soul), and finally Whitney Houston.   I celebrate Black History Month every month of the year.   I am a collector of African artifacts such as masks, Asante stools, dolls, and jewelry.   I have been blessed to have been to Africa and made friends with my African counterparts who have brought me artifacts from the homeland.   In my neighborhood, there is a store called Global Infusions that carries African artifacts as well as Asian.   When I walked in the store, it so reminded me of my home and my travels.   My home is African theme with a little bit of Japanese and Chinese culture.   These cultures are so close to me.   Anyways, I purchased a necklace made out of brass.   The history behi

My love of Eel

Good Afternoon All, Remember, I have been rewarding myself of my weight loss and job interviews by purchasing shoes.  The Jimmy Choos I bought didn't fit.  I ordered these shoes twice in different sizes and they just didn't work.  I loved the shoes because they were a wonderful shade of blue and they were eel.  I love to wear and eat eel.  I own a pair of burnt orange eel skin cowboy boots that I purchased back in 1998.  I just finished some unagi (eel) sushi for lunch. Unagi is a Japanese freshwater eel which is often eaten during the hot summers in Japan and on a special day known as doyo no ushi no hi or midsummer day of the Ox.  I was born in the year of the Ox.  I guess that is why I love eel so much.  When I eat eel and especially as sushi, it reminds me of my time living in Japan.  I can say that my time abroad was my most happiest time in my life.  Being unemployed, I try to find things that remind me of when I was the most happiest.  Everyday is a new day.  I am try

The First Lady of the United States Loves Jason Wu for Target

Good Afternoon Guys, I have been rather busy lately going on interviews and just keeping busy.  I had to catch up on some of my daily blog readings and came across Michelle Obama wearing  a Jason Wu for T arget creation.  As I mentioned in earlier posts, Michelle Obama is one of my favorite style icons.  She mixes high and low.  She wears what she wants like another one of my favorites; Halle Berry.  Anyways, to much of my amazement, Michelle Obama purchased the same dress that I featured last Sunday.  Go figure.  Out of the two dresses, this was the one that fit me perfectly.  I had to return the black and white shirtdress.  Not only is the FLOTUS  from Chicago like myself, she also bought the same dress that I bought.  Also, my little mini twin bought the dress as well.  Blessings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rest in Peace..... Whitney Houston

Good Morning All, Today is a rather somber day because of the death of one of the greatest voices of my lifetime; Whitney Houston. I wasn't a big fan of Whitney Houston; however, I respected her voice and her craft.  She appeared to have it all.  The voice, the body, the looks, money, fame, and family.  Like some of us, she also had demons that she was dealing with.  When someone dies at a young age of 48, it makes you wonde, that we all have an expiration date at some point.  Her death, and other recently deceased people make me ponder what is my purpose here while I am here.  What is really important?  I think honestly, Whitney served her purpose here on this Earth.  She opened so many doors for the likes of Jennifer Hudson, Alicia Keys, Christina Aguilera, and etc.  She was truly an icon.  She gave life to beautiful Bobbi Kristina, and she was part of the soundtrack of my life.  Her most famous song, " I Will Always Love You" brought tears to my eyes because it was

I also treated myself to a new suit for my interview to celebrate my three job interviews and 3 additional pounds I have lost.  I am stacking up on my shoes since, I will not be buying any clothes until I get to my ideal weight.  I am 10 pounds away from that goal. Wish me luck on my upcoming inte

Looking Polished

Good Afternoon, I hope all is well and everyone that watched the Superbowl last night, I told you so that the New York Giants were going to win.   I don’t follow football and I can care less who had won; however, I wanted New York to win because it was New York.   Being from Chicago, you can guess that I have a case of big city syndrome.   Anyways, I hope those of you were able to grab a piece of Jason Wu’s for Target capsule collection.   My little sister who lives in the city went to Target and said that by the time she went there, everything was gone especially the small sizes.   One blogger, said the line is kind of boxy.   I don’t know.   I haven’t received my two dresses yet and when I do, I will let you know. As I mentioned on numerous times, I can be rather random.   Today’s randomness is centered around being polished.   As a kid, I admired women especially older women that look polished.  My aunt was one of those people.  Every since I can remember, my aunt was always po

Jason Wu for Target and Football

Good Morning All, I was up early this morning as usual to get my cup of coffee for the week because Sunday is my cheat day for eating what I want.  I wanted to take a look at the anticipated launch of Jason Wu for Target clothing line.  Jason Wu is the latest designer to showcase his wears for Target since the infamous Missoni fiasco last Fall.  Jason Wu is best know for designing the First Lady of the United States Michelle Obama's inauguration gown. Target has limited some of the pieces that Jason Wu is showcasing to about 50+.  I end up snagging two dresses and a scarf.  The dresses are contemporary fit and I hope that they fit. I was hesitant to purchase anything to wear because I am still losing weight; however, I can always have it taken in.    The Target stores located near me didn't have a lot of the items that I was looking for besides the location downtown. I am not really a clothes horse but an accessories girl. However, I like to collect a piece from each of the

Today is...... National Red Day

Good Afternoon, Today is ..... National Red Day. National Red Day is a celebration of heart health awareness for women. I can say that red is my color all day and everyday. Some people shy away from red because it is such a bold color and it is hard to pull off. Red can be pulled off by anybody as long as you grab the right shade. There are reds that have orange undertones as well as blue undertones. It is recommended that fairer skin women should wear a red that has a bit of blue undertones. Women of color such as African Americans can pull off any color red. That is why I have like every shade of red in my collection. Yesterday, I celebrated my red day with my newly acquired Epi Louis Vuitton Speedy, Puma Track Jacket, Jeans, and Puma red track shoes. A rule of thumb when choosing the right color of red is with the chin test. The chin test is taking an article of red clothing you are considering and holding it under your chest. If the color washes you out and makes you

Trying to Hang In There

Good Afternoon All, As I mentioned previously, being unemployed is starting to get to me.  Today, I spent my day in depression and feeling sorry for myself. It has been two months and I still haven't found anything.  I have been on about 3 interviews and nothing has materialized.  I am the type of person that has to be active and about.  I spend about 2 hours in the gym on a daily basis just to have something to do.  I am not the housewife type.  I commend the women that are satisfied with keeping the house, running errands, and picking up the children.  My child is 15 and she can practically take care of herself.  I must admit I am happiest when I am working.  I love to do it all.  I can go to the gym, keep house, take care of the family and hold down a full time job.  I have been doing it forever with addition to going to school when I was in school.  I am trying to keep sane.  It took me a hard to time to come and post on my blog today.  Depression is starting to set in; howe
