Transition from summer to fall in style.... Ann Taylor Friends and Family

Good Evening All, I have been busy, busy, busy.  Trying to get acclimated to my new routine.  I went to my job today to get my carrot juice I left over the weekend and I left with the task of passing out Friends and Family fliers to people that I know.  Ann Taylor is having their Friends and Family sale beginning on August 2, 2012 through August 5, 2012.  This is the perfect time to save 30% off of your entire purchase.  Ladies, this is the time to stock up on your tropical wool suiting.  Down below I am wearing one of the skirts from the Fall collection. Don't mind the blurred picture.  I still don't know how to operate a camera properly.  I love the nautical themed skirt.  If you are an Ann Taylor card member, you can enjoy a special preview shopping day Wednesday, August 1st.  Also, I am including a promo code to be used online, FRIENDS1 at checkout. Fall On The Brains

Good Evening All, Another week and its over.   Well this past week has been rather sad because of the shootings in Colorado.   What is this world coming too?   The longer that I live, people are spiritually and morally bankrupt.   When I woke up Friday morning to go to the gym, I turned on the news to see coverage of some shootings.   I didn’t know what was going on because I was waking up from a deep stupor.   Instantly hearing the news, my heart started to weep.   I prayed heavily.   My heart weeps for the victims, the shooter and the world as a whole.   It is only going to get worse. Well anyways to cheer myself up, I have been thinking a lot about Fall.   Yes, it is July but Fall is definitely on the brains.   I look forward to the crisp air, the colorful backdrop of nature, and hot apple cider.   I also look forward to the fashion.   Typically in fall, I wear a lot of neutral colors.   I love black, brown, grey, taupe, navy, cream, and red.   My uniform for Fall are tall rid

Mentoring and Random Things

Good Morning To All, It has been a long time since I got up on early Sunday morning to work on my blog.  I have been in such a frenzy lately and find it hard to concentrate on just one thing.  As I look back on the previous week, I have been thinking heavily on the future of our country and the world. Most important, the future of inner city youth.  Living in the surrounding areas of Chicago, I hear of all the violence and despair in the urban communities.  This is not something new; however, it is a problem when the problem affects the entire city and surrounding areas.  In my honest opinion, I believe the underlying factor to these problems is no accountability.  Some may blame racism, slavery, sexism, or whatever ism that may be out there.  In life we make choices rather good or bad that can effect the rest of our lives.  Man, I have made some choices in the past where I am kicking myself today for.  I would love to mentor some of these communities, but reluctant because I can'

Random, Random, Random

Good Morning, I got up this morning to some thundering and rain.  I decided that I was just going to be my random self without a schedule.  I initially thought I was going to church today, but decided to just do church at home with the television, The Bible, and fellowship with my husband that didn't want to go.  I kind of felt guilty because I skipped church last week to go shopping (the Devil is a lie; LOL).  Being my random self, I am sitting at home thinking about what I am going to wear for my first day of work tomorrow at my new job; what I am inspired to write about for my contribution to a magazine; what I am going to eat today; and what I am going to write next for today's post.  Yesterday, I received some news that my best friend will be visiting me from Philly next month.  I am absolutely thrilled since the last time I saw her was three years ago; however her husband came to visit the family last summer while on business.  She is my best girlfriend.  We share th

Happy 4th of July

H A P P Y  4 T H  O F  J U L Y  ! ! ! ! ! ! ! I would like to take this opportunity to say Happy 4th of July to all.  I am taking it easy today.  My hubby barbecued some jerk chicken breast that have been marinating over night, some beef hot dogs, some lamb burgers, hamburgers, jerk shrimp, and some chicken quarters.  I did a healthy alternative to my famous macaroni and cheese ( wheat rotini noodles).  We are keeping it light.  My sister is coming over and we are just going to watch some movies and relax.  As an ode to the 4th of July, here are some items that I recommend not only for today, but for all time. Blessings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wearing Your Wardrobe Like A Uniform

Good Evening All, I have been busy as usual this week.  I received and accepted a job offer on Monday.  I am really excited about it.  It is near two train stations which will allow me enough time in the morning to get a workout in.  The best part about it is, I don't have to drive.  The position is at a well respected university with many opportunities for personal growth and to help others.  Also, I was invited to be a contributor for an Australian magazine featuring French designers.  I have been so blessed to have these doors open for me. I have a question for you?  Do you wear your clothing like a uniform?  What I mean by that is you buy key pieces to wear interchangebly.  When I first started working at Ann Taylor, co-workers were complaining about how expensive the clothes were even with the generous discount.  One of the suggestings my manager made was to buy some pieces and wear it as a uniform.  I have a manager that does this.  From my observation, she buys a couple
