Looking Good Doesn't Have to Cost A Lot of Money

"Working out is modern couture.  No outfit is going to make you look or feel as good as having a fit body.  Buy less clothing and go to the gym instead."  - Rick Owens, Fashion Designer

When I found this quote by Rick Owens this year, I made a copy of it on yellow paper and put it in a plastic cover.  I have this quote posted on my mirror in my bedroom.  This quote is so true.  This quote is my motivation to get up 6 days a week and go to the gym.  A fit body is going to make you feel better and it will make a $5 dress look good.

As I mentioned in earlier posts, I watch Windy City Live.  The co-hosts Valerie Warner and Ryan Chiaverini are always put together by mixing inexpensive and obscure options in their wardrobe.  For example, check out the outfits that both are wearing:

Val:

Earrings & Necklaces: Val's
Shoes: Nine West www.NineWest.com
Ryan:
Suit & Shirt: Custom

Their clothing options are chosen by the show's stylist Eric Himel.  Eric  says "the clothes should fit your body, you should feel good in them and they should look great on you.  End of story."  If you look at both co-hosts, they are in shape.  Valerie is an avid fitness buff and you can tell by the fit of her clothing. Clothes don't have to cost a lot of money to look good.  Especially in this economic climate, not everyone can afford a designer couture wardrobe.  As an avid clothes horse, just because an item has an expensive price tag on it or somebody's name, doesn't mean you are going to look good in it or the quality will suffice.  I believe in mixing high and low.  I am an accessories fanatic.  I like my Gucci, Bottega Veneta, Dooney and Bourke, Celine, Louis Vuitton, and Fendi handbags. I also like my Stuart Weitzman, Gucci, Prada, Salvatore Ferragamo, and Miu Miu shoes.  However, I am not afraid to wear a Norma Kamali dress from Walmart or Target's designer of the month merchandise.  It has been many of days I have worn a $15 dress to the office with a $2,000 handbag and some $300 pair of shoes.  A rule of thumb is  to buy what looks good on you.  Know your body type.  Always check out the quality and cut on the clothing that you buy.  Most and foremost, exercise.  Exercising can sculpt your body while making you healthy.  Remember with a fit body, you can make a $5 dress or pair of pants look great.

Blessings!!!!!

Dooney and Bourke Florentine Smith Bag in Royal Blue

Good Morning All, I have been enjoying this nice Chicago weather we have.  It has been around 70-80 degrees for almost two weeks now.  It is kind of creepy.  I went to Culver's yesterday to get one of my favorite treats, a three scoop lemon Ice and while in the drive through I see a big bumblebee.  Spring is definitely in the air.  I am waiting for the ball to drop.  Will we be getting 6 inches of snow in May?  Anyways, I got a new bag.  Well, I exchanged a bag that I had bought about two months ago for this bag.  It is the Dooney and Bourke Florentine Smith Bag in Royal Blue.  I had purchased this bag in white/tan for the spring and had a change of heart.  I like white bags; however, they don't wear well.  Eventually they will get some kind of color transfer from denim or they will yellow overtime. I have a Chloe and Marc Jacobs bag that did that.  Well, the bag in my opinion is not royal blue in person.  It is ...

Is Blogging Dead?

Hello To All. I have been missing in action from this blog since 2015.  I am the type of person that gets bored with things quite quickly.  I have a question for you today.  Is blogging dead?  There are millions of blogs out there covering everything from fashion, food, homes, wine, and etc.  With the fashion piece, Instagram has taken over the need to post a  blog about what a person is wearing and what the audience should buy. However, is it quite necessary to share with the world everything that a person does in their life. I am signing off with this open ended question; should you leave things to the  imagination?  Ponder on that question; will you. Until next time, many, many, many, blessings!

Louis Vuitton Dog Advertisement

Louis Vuitton Montreal, Canada  July, 2009 I know this is random; however after looking at numerous publications such as Vogue over the past two months, I couldn't help but to love their new advertisement campaign featuring the Japanese Chins.  I lived in Japan for about 4 1/2 years and I fell in love with Japanese Chins.  I loved them so much that I purchased a cute little male Japanese Chin from a non-for-profit organization in Lake County (Chicago, Illinois).  I was tickled to see how my love for Louis Vuitton and Japanese Chins were brought to life
