Defacto....... Segregation

Good Morning, I have been lazy lately in regards to keeping up this blog.  Like I mentioned when I first started this blog, I am random.  I am a person who gets bored with things very fast.  Don't get me wrong, I like talking about random things that mostly involve around fashion and looking your best.  However, as I get a little older and gain wisdom, I find that there are more important things to talk about.  I am a blogger, who follows other bloggers and I find that everyone is pretty much talking about and doing the same things.  I can put pictures of myself in various outfits and post them on the blog (which I have done) but I find that other bloggers do this as well and what is the fun in that? One thing on my journey to self awareness is that I tend to do the opposite of what everyone else is doing.  In fact, that was one of the few lessons I received from my parents growing up.  If everyone else is going right, you go left....

Fall is Officially Here.... to me that is

Blessings to All, I am such a slacker. I have been really slacking from writing lately. I have some sort of writer's block. One thing I can say, the Chicago area is transitioning into Fall. I cannot wait. It seems that is has been hot forever. I am welcoming a new change of season. Some of the things that I love about Fall are the brisk, cool air. It is not too hot or too cold. I love wearing the colors associated with Fall... warm colors like black, tan, camel, brown, taupe, red, and etc. I love the textures that represent Fall i.e. leather, cashmere, wool, tweed, and suede. With every post, I like to leave you with a couple of my favorite items. Denim, Denim, Denim

http://www.jcrew.com/ Blessings to All, I have been having fun lately. My best friend from Philadelphia came to visit for the weekend. I had a sleepover on Friday including my baby sister and daughter. We went to this fabulous little African/Asian store called Global Infusions. They had a girl's night out with food, wine, and live jazz. It was pleasant. It reminded me of my time in Japan surrounded by Oriental Furniture and incense burning from India. I have been on a mission trying to find the right denim shirts. I love denim shirts. I think they are the must have to any wardrobe and can be considered a classic piece. Denim shirts can be dressed up with a pair of slacks or skirt or dress down with leggings, khakis, or little white shorts. It is something nautical about a denim or chambray shirt. Here are some suggestions. http://www.eddiebauer.com/catalog/product.jsp?ensembleId=43403&catPath=&viewAll=n&pg=1 http://canva...

Bordeaux, Bordeaux, Bordeaux

Greetings Everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I took a week off to gather my thoughts and post something meaningful.  As I mentioned, I am random.  However, I don't like to post anything just for the sake of posting things.  I have Fall on the brains.  It seems like it has been Summer forever.  You know in Chicago, Winter is coming.  I am wanting it now more than anything because of my allergies and for the fact it has been hot for too long.  Bordeaux has been on the brains.  Bordeaux is defined as the the port city in southwestern France which is known for its wine of the same name.  Bordeaux to me at this time is the color that is attributed to the wine.  For Fall 2012, bordeaux is the color. There are other colors that belong to the bordeaux family known as wine, oxblood, or claret to name a few. Above are some of my finds to celebrate the oncoming season.  I love reds normally and ha...

Transition from summer to fall in style.... Ann Taylor Friends and Family

Good Evening All, I have been busy, busy, busy.  Trying to get acclimated to my new routine.  I went to my job today to get my carrot juice I left over the weekend and I left with the task of passing out Friends and Family fliers to people that I know.  Ann Taylor is having their Friends and Family sale beginning on August 2, 2012 through August 5, 2012.  This is the perfect time to save 30% off of your entire purchase.  Ladies, this is the time to stock up on your tropical wool suiting.  Down below I am wearing one of the skirts from the Fall collection. Don't mind the blurred picture.  I still don't know how to operate a camera properly.  I love the nautical themed skirt.  If you are an Ann Taylor card member, you can enjoy a special preview shopping day Wednesday, August 1st.  Also, I am including a promo code to be used online, FRIENDS1 at checkout. Fall On The Brains

Good Evening All, Another week and its over.   Well this past week has been rather sad because of the shootings in Colorado.   What is this world coming too?   The longer that I live, people are spiritually and morally bankrupt.   When I woke up Friday morning to go to the gym, I turned on the news to see coverage of some shootings.   I didn’t know what was going on because I was waking up from a deep stupor.   Instantly hearing the news, my heart started to weep.   I prayed heavily.   My heart weeps for the victims, the shooter and the world as a whole.   It is only going to get worse. Well anyways to cheer myself up, I have been thinking a lot about Fall.   Yes, it is July but Fall is definitely on the brains.   I look forward to the crisp air, the colorful backdrop of nature, and hot apple cider.   I also look forward to the fashion.   Typically in fall, I wear a lot of neutral colors.   I love black, brown, ...

Mentoring and Random Things

Good Morning To All, It has been a long time since I got up on early Sunday morning to work on my blog.  I have been in such a frenzy lately and find it hard to concentrate on just one thing.  As I look back on the previous week, I have been thinking heavily on the future of our country and the world. Most important, the future of inner city youth.  Living in the surrounding areas of Chicago, I hear of all the violence and despair in the urban communities.  This is not something new; however, it is a problem when the problem affects the entire city and surrounding areas.  In my honest opinion, I believe the underlying factor to these problems is no accountability.  Some may blame racism, slavery, sexism, or whatever ism that may be out there.  In life we make choices rather good or bad that can effect the rest of our lives.  Man, I have made some choices in the past where I am kicking myself today for.  I would love to mentor some of th...
